Aug – SepGanesh Chaturthi (गणेशोत्सव)
The heartbeat of the Kokan. Families return home from across the world, homes glow with lamps and red hibiscus, and every street echoes with aarti for ten unforgettable days.

Culture & Cuisine
Beyond beaches and orchards, the Kokan is a living culture — celebrated in temple courtyards, village kitchens and family homes that welcome you in.
Festivals of the Kokan
Time your visit with a festival and you do not watch the Kokan — you belong to it.
Aug – SepThe heartbeat of the Kokan. Families return home from across the world, homes glow with lamps and red hibiscus, and every street echoes with aarti for ten unforgettable days.
Feb – MarKokan's own Holi — decorated palkhis carried village to village, dhol-tasha rhythms, gulal in the air and Naman folk theatre that runs deep into the night.
Year roundSteamed rice-flour modak filled with jaggery and fresh coconut, made by hand with the grandmothers of the house — the sweet that defines a Kokan festival.
On the thali
Every meal is cooked by the host family with coconut, kokum and fresh local produce — and every plate served puts income directly into the village.

Varan-bhaat with ghee, seasonal bhaji, koshimbir, crisp puris, tangy solkadhi and a sweet modak — served on a banana leaf, cooked on a wood fire.

Fiery Malvani masala at its best — surmai fry, prawn curry, crab masala, bhakri and rice, cooled by a glass of coconut-kokum solkadhi.
Ganeshotsav homestays, Shimga processions and hands-on thali workshops — we arrange everything with our host families across the coast.
